Initiative #10: Study Group for Universal Design for Learning 2003-2004

Even as inclusion becomes more imbedded and accepted as common practice, the challenge of reaching and teaching all students in a classroom remains. This study group was developed by invitation to discuss and to apply the concepts and practices of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to teacher preparation programs. After attending a three day training in UDL at the Center for Applied Special Technologies (CAST) in Wakefield, Massachusetts, selected Task Force members are communicating the ideas and incorporating the strategies of UDL into their own classroom teaching. By remaining connected to one another and to the Task Force, this study group will examine UDL's viability, support one another's efforts, and disseminate their findings.
